Vet in a Van, mobile veterinarian

HELLO

Vet in a Van is a mobile veterinary service travelling around Australia helping support other travellers and remote communities with basic veterinary care.

We understand that our dogs, cats and other pets are well loved family members. So, it’s no surprise that many families include their furred, feathered or scaled babies in their holiday or travel plans and access to veterinary care can be very difficult in some areas of our vast country.

Whilst on ‘The Big Lap’, we provide fellow travellers with pets the convenience of having general health checks, dog vaccinations, worming, nail trims, wound care, skin/ear/eye treatments and just some friendly veterinary advice close by. Veterinary consultations are available in-person or via telehealth. Home visits are available for residents of remote areas. Our premium Pet First Aid Kit is now available, enabling pet parents to provide potentially life-saving care if veterinary access is limited.

Dr Tania is experienced with dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, reptiles and wildlife. She holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (with Distinction), a Bachelor of Science (Zoology), a Certification of Veterinary Natural Nutrition, and postgraduate training in Avian Medicine and Surgery. She has completed the Taronga Veterinary Professional Training in Wildlife Treatment and Care, along with the Wildlife Emergency Support Network training to assist wildlife after natural disasters like bushfires. Dr Tania is professionally registered with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria and the Veterinary Practice Board of Western Australia, with recognition and approval to work in all other States and Territories in Australia. She is a proud member of the Australian Veterinary Association, the Australian Small Animal Veterinarians and Unusual Pet and Avian Veterinarians groups, and member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians Australasian Committee.

After travelling full time and working all around Australia since April 2020, Dr Tania has unique insight and experience with the types of problems, diseases and parasites that travelling pets commonly encounter in different areas. Working with Animal Management and One Health teams in remote indigenous communities of East Arnhem Land and Roper Gulf has further enhanced her previous animal shelter and welfare abilities.

Our mobile clinic veterinary services are limited (hello compact caravan life!) but we can help out where we’re able to or provide first aid and referral to a local veterinary hospital. Take a peek at our list of services available under the โ€˜Servicesโ€™ tab or just ask and we’ll see what we can do.

Please note that emergency or afterhours services are not available.

See ‘Contact Us’ for ways to get in touch or make an appointment.

We can’t wait to meet you!

Dr Tania, Marcus and family
